Traveling to Alabama

We finally have been able to see Ben's new lifestyle in Alabama. It is so fun to get pictures of his apartment, his companion, and just the area he is serving in. His companions name is Elder Ryszka. We have also received a couple of emails since he has been serving here and I will update you with his baptisms and his wonderful progress. Ben and his companion have had their first baptism, and her name is Sandy Weaver. She was confirmed on Sunday and Ben said that he wishes we all could have seen the happiness on her face after she was baptized. She has already given them 3 referrals. Right now they are teaching her brother David. They have 2 other baptisms set up. One is Travis, but he just moved out of their area, and then Anna. He said she is a golden contact. She is getting baptized in 2 weeks right before Ben gets transferred. The other missionaries are excited to get Travis and to baptize him. Ben loves Gadsden. He said it's beautiful there. They ride their bikes a lot which he is loving. His bike is in the shop right now, but he didn't say why. He said he was glad to find a bike shop.

His companion is the district leader so this week they went on splits to other areas to make sure the other missionaries are doing what they need to. He said he had a great experience. He was paired up with Elder Louden in Gardendale. He's been in the mission field for 14 months. Ben said they were on fire together. He said it was the best day of his mission. He invited 20 people to go to church there and gave out 3 Books of Mormon and were able to find a lot of investigators. He says he wouldn't be surprised if 5 people they contacted that day get baptized in the next month. He felt the Spirit so strong and spoke with so much power. Elder Louden said to Ben, "You are the first missionary that I have met that is so bold, and is just yourself, and really takes teaching seriously with all your heart." Ben said that made him feel really good.

I asked Ben what they are eating. He said his comp is actually a pretty good cook. He made enchiladas the other night. Other then that he said a lot of cereal. In the last package mom sent we threw in some simple recipe cards that he could make. He was grateful. Hopefully he can be eating something other then cereal. He also said he was craving mom's famous chocolate chip cookies! She sent some in the last package so I know he'll be excited to get them. They are having a Halloween Party on Friday. The members are bringing their friends. He said him and Elder Ryszk are going to switch name tags for their costumes! :)
Ben's testimony is so strong and continues to grow each day he serves. He is doing GREAT and is loving Alabama. He loves the work. Here is his testimony from the email we got today:

"Family my testimony is growing stronger everyday. The spirit is changing my life. I love my Savior so much! I love this church and I know that it is true with all my heart. I know the spirit is strong! The strongest tool given to man, and with it we can do anything. I am so thankful for it, it has blessed my life so much lately."

We are so proud of Ben and glad to hear that he is doing great. Thanks to everyone for all the letters, emails, and prayers in behalf of Ben. We know he's doing so well because of all the support he receives from his friends and family. May God be with you!
